True North is Aberdeen’s urban music festival – an exciting, cutting edge festival featuring a line-up of extraordinary contemporary talent from across Scotland and beyond.

Since its inception in 2015, True North has quickly gathered pace as a highly regarded event, and a key element of the ever-growing cultural offering in Aberdeen. And with past appearances from the likes of Laura Mvula, Richard Hawley, Tom Odell and Public Service Broadcasting to name a few, it is little wonder that True North was named Best Cultural Festival or Event in the 2017 Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism awards.

The festival continues to pick up accolades, and was recently announced as a finalist in the 2018 Scottish Culture Awards as Cultural Event of the Year.

A major highlight of True North each year is a specially curated concert celebrating the work of a legendary artist or band using the cream of UK musical talent to reimagine, reinterpret and celebrate their work. In the past, the music of legends such as Kate Bush, Neil Young and Fleetwood Mac have been celebrated in this always unforgettable highlight.

The festival has grown into a vibrant, eclectic mix celebrating all that contemporary music has to offer, providing an innovative reflection of the modern city in which it takes place.

As well as using the city centre as its canvas, True North offers an excellent opportunity to visit Aberdeen and experience the excitement and wealth of opportunities the city has to offer.

Our Fringe programme offers a diverse range of performances, workshops and events to reflect our commitment to supporting grassroots talent for all ages.
